How can one go between central Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport?

A large train station is located directly beneath Schiphol Airport, making it very convenient for travel to and from central Amsterdam and throughout the Netherlands. The station also services international trains, including some high-speed lines. Domestic trains can take you to central Amsterdam in about 20 minutes or less. The one-way standard fare is €3.8. For added convenience, you can purchase advance tickets without a set date and free luggage trolleys are made available for your bags once you reach the airport.

Another option is a hotel shuttle service called Connexxion Schiphol which serves over 100 hotels. It's especially helpful in cases when your hotel is not convenient to a train station or connecting tram stop. The shuttles run between 6am and 9pm daily. Buses leave from platform A7 outside of the Arrivals hall. The fare is €13.50 one-way or €22 for a return trip. Children aged 4 - 14 ride at half price and those under 4 ride for free. Be sure to reserve a spot at least 2 hours before you intend to leave your hotel to go to the airport.

Schiphol Airport is about 10 miles southwest of Amsterdam's city center, which makes taking a taxi a reasonable option when traveling in a group. The fare starts at €30 for up to 4 people and the journey takes about 20 minutes in good traffic conditions. Other car services, which use luxury cars, charge higher fees and some services allow for shared rides at a lower cost.
