How can one go between Changi Airport and downtown Singapore?

A cost effective way of traveling between Changi Airport and downtown SIngapore is the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. MRT trains serve Terminals 2 and 3 and bring one from the airport to downtown in under 30 minutes. Frequent service is available between 5:30am and 11:18pm, with one-way tickets costing S$2.7. Buses are also available at each terminal and cost only S$2.

If you would like door-to-door service without paying for the cost of a taxi, the Airport Shuttle is a good option. It serves all hotels in SIngapore except Changi Village Hotel and hotels on Sentosa Island. The service runs every 15 minutes from 6am to midnight and every 30 minutes at other times. One-way tickets cost S$9. Be sure to arrange for your return shuttle pick up ahead of time, either at the airport when you first arrive or by calling the shuttle service in advance.

Shuttle contact information for departures and arrivals can be reached at:

  • Terminal 1 : +65 6543-1985
  • Terminal 2 : +65 6546-1646
  • Terminal 3 : +65 6241-3818

Taxis are plentiful and cost between S$18 and S$32. The ride from the airport to the city takes about half an hour and is fairly consistent. If you are traveling in a group and prefer not to attend to your bags on the bus or train, taxis can be a good option. Limousines are available at a cost of S$45 and up. Though car rentals are also available, it is not advisable to drive due to the small size of the island and the extensiveness of Singapore's clean and reliable public transit system. Should you find it necessary to do so, however, please note that cars drive on the left side of the road.
