How do I get from Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to downtown Atlanta?

There are several ways to travel between Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and downtown Atlanta, including trains, shuttle services, cabs, limos and car rentals.

Atlanta's rail and bus system, referred to as MARTA for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, offers an easy, fast, and inexpensive way to travel to/from the airport and downtown. The train station is located off of the baggage claim area, departs every 8 minutes and brings one downtown in 20 minutes. Two lines, the North-South line and Northeast-South line, service the airport and both stop at Five Points station, a major transfer hub for the remaining lines. Many downtown, midtown and airport hotels are located within walking distrance of train stops. The fare is under $2.

Door to door shared-ride shuttle vans offer service between the airport and the Atlanta metropolitan area. Shuttles from the airport departs every 15 minutes and can be reached by exiting door S5 or S6 from baggage claim and walking to the outer curb. The cost for a shared ride to downtown is approximately $16.50 one way or $29 roundtrip per person.

Taxi cabs are available at the "Red Bus aisle" with a flat rate to and from the airport and the central business district. The rate to downtown is $30, midtown $32 and Buckhead $38. Other destinations are metered. A large number of limos service the airport. Click here for a list of available services, as provided by the airport. Limousine services run $50 and up.
