How do I go from Hong Kong International Airport to downtown?

The fastest and most cost-effective way of getting to downtown Hong Kong from the airport is to take the Airport Express Train. The train runs between the airport and downtown every 12 minutes from 5:50am to 1:15am daily and takes about 24 minutes to travel between the Downtown terminal and the Airport stop. The train has a few other stops as well, including connections to other MTR lines. Roundtrip tickets currently cost less than HK$200 and there are dedicated luggage storage compartments near the doors of each cabin. Once you reach downtown it is quite easy to transfer to a taxi to reach your final destination.

Other transportation options from the airport, such as taxis or limos, are available but they are more costly and suspectible to heavy roadway traffic. For a full list of available transportation option from the airport, you can refer to http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/transport/index.html.

If you are staying in Hong Kong for a few days you may wish to consider obtaining the Airport Express Tourist Octopus 3-day pass. The pass costs HK$300 and includes roundtrip travel to/from the airport as well as 3 days of unlimited rides on the MTR, Hong Kong's extensive subway and municipal transit system. More information is available at the following address, http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/whatsnew/tourist_products.html.
