How does one get to downtown Paris from Charles de Gaulle airport?
Charles de Gaulle Airport is located 20 miles northeast of Paris and provides several transportation options to go to and from the center of the city.
The Regional Express Railway (RER) provides connecting train service between Charles de Gaulle Airport and central Paris. If you arrived by way of terminals 1, 2A or 2B, you can take a free "Aeroport de Paris" shuttle which connects you to the train station located in terminal 3. Otherwise, you can follow the "Paris par Train" signs from other terminals to reach the train. The rail service is referred to as RER B and runs daily from 4.45 a.m. to 1.30 a.m. Travel time is approximately 35 minutes on average with express trains being the fastest. The cost for a one-way trip is 8.2€.
Taxis are available and take 45 minutes or longer to reach central Paris. Fares range from 35€ to more than 60€ depending on traffic and surcharges based on day and time of day.
There is a public bus service referred to as "Roissybus" that runs to and from Charles de Gaulle airport and the opera district in Paris. The bus runs every 15 to 20 minutes and takes between 45 and 60 minutes. The one-way fare is 8.6€. There are also door-to-door shuttles which cost 20€+ per person each way. Discounts are available for multiple persons in the same party.
