How does one go between Vancouver International Airport and downtown Vancouver? There are a few options to go between the airport and downtown
Vancouver, British Columbia. An economical option for single travelers or for travel during rush hour is the Airporter bus service, which runs every 30 minutes between
major downtown hotels, the cruise ship terminal and the airport. The fare for adults is C$13.75 one-way. Tickets can be purchased on the bus and
there are discounts for seniors, children and families. Taxi costs around C$25 to C$30 and take 20 to 30 minutes
to reach downtown depending on one's destination and traffic conditions. As taxis
run on meters, they can become notably more expensive during rush hours.
Public buses depart from the Airport Bus Station Terminal near the
airport. The Bus Station Terminal is reached from the airport by taking the
#424 bus which stops at the Ground Level of the Domestic
Terminal. Bus 98B and Route #496 connect the airport with
downtown. While buses are inexpensive at C$5, or less when traveling shorter distances or on weekends, they are not the fastest nor the simplest option.
As with other major airports, limos and rental cars are available. A
new rapid transit line, named the Canada Line, is scheduled to open in late 2009 and will
connect downtown Vancouver to the airport with a trip duration of about 25 minutes. last updated 2008.11.11
