Is a tourist visa required for US citizens visiting France?

If you are an American citizen visiting France for leisure or business for under 90 days, only a valid passport is required for entry and no visa is necessary. However, if you are visiting multiple countries in the Schengen Zone on the same trip, the 90 day limit begins when you first enter a country in the Schengen Zone.

The Schengen Zone countries are:

Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden
