Is a tourist visa required for US citizens visiting Mexico?

American citizens can enter Mexico without a visa by presenting either a valid passport or both a government-issued proof of citizenship and a current government-issued photo ID. The official "Migration Form for Tourists, Transmigrants, Visiting Businesspersons, or Visiting Consultants" must also be filled out and can be obtained from travel agencies, airlines and at Mexican border crossings. Please note that while Mexico does not require U.S. citizens to present a valid passport for entry, the United States does require a valid passport for returning citizens traveling by air.
