What are some things to know before booking a cruise? There are a number of things you should try to find out before booking a cruise:
- Clarify what the quoted price includes (fuel surchages, port fees and other charges may be separate).
- Understand how gratuity is handled.
- Inquire about special discounts such as those due to age, residency, affiliation, etc.
- See if there are discounts for add-on airfare, pre- or post-cruise stays or other related services.
- Verify whether you will be assigned a specific cabin at the time of booking or upon arrival on the ship.
- For oceanview and balcony rooms, confirm whether there will be anything obstructing your view, such as lifeboat pulleys.
- If you have any special requests, such as dining time preferences, find out the earliest you can inform the staff.
- Confirm any passport or visa requirements required to disembark at any of the ports of call on the itinerary.
- Read and understand the cancellation and refund policies applicable to the cruise.
- Read and thoroughly understand offers for insurance related to the cruise.
