What is a type E electrical socket and plug? Type
"E" electrical sockets are found in some European and North African countries, mostly those of French influence. They are distinct in that the socket itself has a grounding prong, indicated at left by the hollow green circle, that sticks out from a circular, indented casing. Plugs consist of elongated, round
prongs of equal length and a grounding socket to receive the electrical socket's grounding prong. Because of the spacing and size of the ungrounded portion of the outlet, type "E" sockets fit ungrounded type "C" plugs, generally referred to as Europlugs.
