What is a type H electrical socket and plug?

Type "H" electrical sockets are found almost exclusively in Israel and in areas under the rule of the Palestinian Authority. There are two variations of the socket in use, with the more standard version shown at left. Type "H" plugs consist of three rectangular prongs with tapered ends. The two powered prongs form a "V" shape that points to the grounding prong. While some sockets take only type "H" plugs, others (such as the one shown in the diagram at left) are modified to have extra space to accept a type "C" plug, otherwise known as a Europlug. Type "H" socket and plug casings are usually round with the sockets sometimes indented to fit the plug more securely.
