What is a type I electrical socket and plug? Type
"I" electrical sockets are found mostly in Oceania with a variant used in mainland China. Plugs consist of three rectangular prongs with tapered ends. The two powered prongs form an upside-down "V" shape pointing completely opposite the grounding prong, which is positioned on a line between the centerpoint and edge of the plug. Because of the shape of the socket, type "I" outlets accept polarized, ungrounded plugs as well. The shape of both plugs and casings tend to vary. So, the round border at left is meant only as an example of an outlet and should not be relied upon as a representation of all type "I" outlets.
