What is the Heathrow Express?

The Heathrow Express is a train service that runs every 15 minutes between Heathrow Airport and Paddington Station in central London.  The train stops at Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 with free transfer service to Terminal 4.  Paddington is a major transportation hub which connects to both rail, underground, bus and taxi services.  The journey takes only 15 minutes and the train cars offer a fair amount of storage space for standard-sized luggage.  The standard price for an Express Class fare is £15.5 each way or £29 round-trip.  First class, multi-trip and children's tickets are also available.  Tickets can be purchased online, at ticket machines or the ticket offices at either Paddington or Heathrow, or on the train itself.  A small discount is given for online purchases and on-board purchases have a surcharge of £2 per ticket.

From our experience, we did not see much advantage to being in the First Class cabins and wish to caution that, at 15 minutes, the journey is hardly long enough to make use of any amenities in the cabins.  Additionally, it may be helpful to note that T-Mobile UK Wi-Fi service is available on the train.  However, T-Mobile US Wi-Fi contracts were not accepted when we checked and both daily and monthly fees for access are substantially higher than in the U.S.
