What is the Hong Kong Peak Tram?

The Peak Tram transports passengers between the near-top of Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island at an elevation of 1,302 feet above sea level and the near-bottom at 92 feet above sea level.  The tram is operated by the movement of a steel cable and runs along a narrow path .85 miles long up a hair-raising grade of 27° at its steepest.  The ride offers amazing views of the city during both the daytime and nighttime.  The tram has been in operation since 1888.
