Where are the best restaurants in the Fisherman's Wharf area?

Because the Fisherman's Wharf area is devoted to tourists, area restaurants often have no incentive to be either delicious or well-priced given that they don't rely on repeat business the same way as do most other San Francisco restaurants. However, there are a few notable exceptions. If you're looking for fast food we strongly recommend In-and-Out Burger, located on Jefferson Street near the F-line Tram Terminus. The ingredients are fresh, the dining is as casual as you make it and the price is hard to beat. If you prefer a fine dining experience, we highly recommend Ana Mandara on the corner of Beach and Polk Streets in Ghirardelli Square. The cuisine is French-influenced haute Vietnamese and consistently delicious (excepting one peculiar rice desert, but that's another story). Reservations are easy to make either by phone or using Lastly, for the true gourmand, we thoroughly recommend Gary Danko's on the corner of Hyde and North Point Streets. In order to get a reservation, be sure to call the reservationist two months in advance as soon as reservations are accepted, currently 11am on weekdays and 2pm on weekends. Yes, it's expensive and, yes, you may not be able to get a seating until 9pm, but for the true food-lover the meal is worth it.
