Though there is qualitative information available for American airlines from the United States government, we recommend looking at Skytax instead.  Skytrax audits both domestic and international airlines using a five-point scale and focuses on product and service quality rather than competitiveness of fares and rewards programs.  Only a few carriers, such as Singapore Airlines and Cathy Pacific, receive a top rating of five.  If you have a choice of carrier for your selected route, we recommend that you consider airline ratings before purchasing your ticket, especially for long-haul flights to avoid enduring many hours of poor service.
