Where should I stay when visiting Bangkok?Though where one stays is highly dependent on a person's interests and
budget, there are some general things to bear in mind when
staying in Bangkok. Hotels along the Chao Phraya River are generally
more expensive but offer nicer views and often provide a resort-like setting.
These hotels include the well-known Oriental as well as the Peninsula. If you are
mostly interested in nightlife, entertainment and shopping, hotels in
the Siam Square district should suit you. Hotels near the
airport and convention center can be significantly cheaper than those in the
heart of the city but are rather distant. Given that traffic can be very heavy and chaotic in
Bangkok, it is often helpful to stay within walking distance to one of the aboveground Skytrain stations or underground subway stations. last updated 2008.10.26
