Which airports serve the Berlin metropolitan area?

Three airports serve the Berlin metropolitan area: Schoenefeld (SXF), Tegel (TXL) and Tempelhof (THF).

Schoenefeld is about 15 miles Southeast of Berlin.  It serves mostly charter and budget flights.
Tegel is about 7 miles Northwest of Berlin.  It is the largest and the city's primary international airport.
Tempelhof is about 6 miles South of Berlin.  It primary offers short haul commuter flights to neighboring countries.

Current plans are to close Tegel and Tempelhof airports by 2012 and have Schoenefeld be expanded and renamed as the Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BBI).
