Which airports serve the London metro area?

London, England's metropolitan area is served by 3 airports. Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in the U.K. and consistently one of the busiest in the world. It is located about 20 miles west of London and is accessible by express train. Gatwick Airport is the second busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It is located about 30 miles southwest of London and is also accessible by express train. Stansted Airport, the third busiest in the UK, is about 37 miles northeast of London and serves a large number of budget airlines. All three airports offer domestic and international flights although you are more likely to find long-haul international flights at Heathrow and Gatwick.
