Which electrical plugs and voltages are used in China? The People's Republic of China uses type A, G and I electrical plugs with a voltage of 220 V at 50 Hz. However, both Chinese type A and I do not match American and Australian type A and I standards. Chinese type A prongs, for one, are shorter and do not have holes near their ends. Chinese type I plugs, in turn, do not have the same dimensions as those in Australia. Officially, Chinese type A outlets are the standard even though type G outlets can also be found. In all cases, however, the voltage and frequency of the current should be the same.last updated 2007.07.23
