Cruises can be an economical way to have a vacation, given that the price includes your accommodations, entertainment, food and most of your transportation.  Also, cruise lines often offer add-on airfares at discounted prices to get you to and from your home city and the initial and/or final ports of call.  If you are traveling with a family and are willing to stay in the same room, the third and fourth individuals in your party pay discounted rates.  Many on-board activities are also free.  So, you can keep your family members easily entertained while enjoying your time separately.
